Could Police Budget Cut Actually be Budget Increase

Updated 17 Jan 2011 03:24 PM ET by meyer4m.blogspot.com

How can a budget cut be a budget increase. London Police Chief Brad Duncan figured out how. He announced this morning that the Police Service would slash $700,000 from it's $82-million annual budget.

Yet when you listen carefully it is actually still a budget increase. The proposed budget increase of 3% is now closer to 2%.

Astonishing isn't it. It is still a budget increase and the force still plans to hire new front-line officers and even civilian staff in disciplines such as information technology.

Will City Council be satisfied. Doubt it.
